Dear Sun
Why do you desiccate this heart
Bleed it dry
No blessing sent down in disguise
O Death
Why is it here that you reside
Ingest
And drain all the color as you drink the rest
Sun
Why do you desiccate this land
Leave it scorned
No blessing sent by heaven's lords
O Death
Why is it here that you adorn
Digest
Drain all the water, no fruit to be left
A captivating combination of genres – essentially proggy death metal. A seamless 60 minutes full of musical ideas. A little noodly at times, but I enjoy the clean guitar work. Lyrically, it sits somewhere between nihilism and humanism – anti-religion, but more broadly institutional than the typical metal fare. There's a relish to the violence against women imagery in "Slave" which I don't enjoy, but on the whole this album stands up to scrutiny from most directions. Certainly not run of the mill Luke
